The What If Theories - The truth behind the Easter Island statues
Ever seen these? I bet you have. These are the Moai; monolithic human figures made of volcanic rock, found on Easter Island. They were said to be the living faces of deified ancestors, the embodiment of of former chiefs and important status symbols. Monumental sculptures of a pagan/tribal culture.But..
What if they were not? Time is said to be circular, according to Physics theories. And space and time are the same thing. So what if these statues were put there to prevent the back flow of time? Perhaps the Earth is but one stop on this great path that leads to.. somewhere ( haven't gotten that far in my imagination yet). Maybe it's still circular. (picture super huge ring road around the universe, which is so huge that we haven't even finished one complete circle yet. And the universe keeps expanding, so you will never finish one circle). So you have this great road, something like the yellow brick road in the Wizard of Oz, except that this is the Milky Way (picture stepping stones on a pond - the planets are the stones and the vacuum surrounding them is like the water). And time is flowing along this invisible path.
People don't understand how time can be circular. Does that mean the future is the past and vice versa? That I lived a thousand years ago, and I will live and type this post another xx number of years from now ad infinitum? Perhaps the reincarnation theory supports this. Or maybe, there is something preventing the back flow of time. Perhaps it's intelligent design. You know the Golden ratio right? 1.618 something - pi, this ratio is found again and again in nature. People have found this ratio in both the smallest systems and the largest systems. So the perhaps the working principle for both are the same?So we come again to the theory that nature works the same from the atom to the universe. So perhaps the flow of time is similar to blood flow in the body. You know how you have valves in the body to prevent the back flow of blood? Perhaps there is something to prevent the back flow of time. There's no beginning to time. If it's counted as the beginning of the universe, then the next question would be when was the beginning of the universe? And if there was such a thing as beginning, then what was there before that?
I guess I'm sort of off tangent. The beginning of time and the universe is a whole other fascinating topic to explore altogether. Back to time flow and blood flow. So, we're assuming that there's something in place to stop the back flow of time, and these somethings are the Easter Island statues. Why the statues you ask? Why not? It's fiction anyway. The statues are there. In what looks like the end of the world (not there's any such thing - unless the world is really flat and we are all being brainwashed like in the Matrix - Omg what if I'm imagining typing this whole thing while my body is lying inside some metal thing with tubes all over. That's assuming that I even have a body. What if I'm just a consciousness without a physical form? Ok whatever). So anyway, I think the statues are way too mysterious and cool to be just religious/ritualistic/cultural symbols. They have to have some other deep purpose. So there you go - they're actually the valves put there to prevent the back flow of time. Perhaps the next valve is in the next planet? Or same planet, next dimension? Next stop on the figurative 'Yellow Brick Road' Milky Way? Maybe it's not the Milky Way, but another path that transcends dimensions. So it winds around different dimensions, and time travels from one dimension to another on this path, but cannot travel backwards because it is prevented by a valve at each dimension. Side track - I've read that there are actually more than 4 dimensions (26 Bosonic and 11 in M-theory). And I remember reading that there other dimensions that we cannot see are actually compressed into one dimension or something like that. Or was that the other theory where you have 10 dimensions but 6 of them get squashed into one, so you get left with the grand total of 4. So perhaps time is the 6 squashed into 1 dimension? Which explains its complexity? What is that all about? Note to self - read up string theory.
So what does time look like actually? And how do you stop the back flow? How do these Easter Island statues actually stop the back flow? Hmm.. Perhaps since it's fiction we should throw in a deus ex machina everytime we have a question?
